Hello World

Welcome to The Claw. A site that several of us have been banging on about for well over a year now. We’re finally underway, out of the gates, albeit in a haphazard fashion. Things will change quite a bit over the next short while.

For the record the following is what we’re about:

1/ Games we love. This is a positive place, hopefully, where people can talk about the games they love and why they love them. If you see a review on here it’s because we think it’s worth playing, not because we want to rip someone’s hard work to shreds. And as an aside – it’ll be there because we bought it not because we got some freebie in the post with a gratis copy of the game.

2/ The community. We hope to build a welcoming, friendly and down right too-clever-for-its-own-good community here. We’ll be encouraging people to talk about our articles and to get together on our forum and ingame wherever possible – gaming communities can act as a great force for good for many people. I know from a personal standpoint they’ve become my pub for the last few years… hopefully this will be no different in that respect.

3/ The book. This is the biggie for us. At least once a year we will take the best articles, comments and forum discussions and put them in printed book/magazine form and put it for sale on either Lulu or Blurb. We hope to involve our community in this as time goes on. Inviting the most erudite commenters and forumites to write articles for the site which in turn will be printed in the book. So… in short — you have a chance as a regular and well-behaved commenter and forumite, to get your work in print. If we see fit.

So – here we are. The Claw. A new site and a brand new community… and I think… a brand new idea in the games world too. Things will evolve as time moves on ( first on the list: site design ) but these are the main drivers behind the setting up of the site. If you’re grown up about games, love to talk about them, write about them, read about them then you will almost certainly find a home here. Welcome, friend.
