ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead Review
‘TAAAAAAAANK!’ I scream, flopping belly down in what I hope is enough of a rise to provide cover from the metal beast’s mounted MG. Two of my squad members become a fine red mist and the thing begins to move. As my buddy yells into the headset for a sitrep, the MG opens up and [...]
What do indie game developers do with free time?
They develop other games for fun really they do.
Oh, and they film themselves doing it and timelapse it and put it on YouTube… just to show everyone else what we could be doing but aren’t, and also partially to show off, but I suspect mostly because they find it amusing to do so.
MAG: A Sniper’s Eye View
I’m a bush. A very deadly bush with a suppressed sniper rifle. Picking off anyone who gets within 2 feet of the stairs to our bunker. Unfortunately someone has spotted the deadly bush-that-I-am and is sprinting round behind me. His burst of speed makes him visible on my radar and I spot the blip. I [...]
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is, to quote Tristram Shandy, my hobbie-horse. Despite the groans every time I mention it, I persist in telling as many people as possible how good it is. All the time. And it is. Good. Honestly.
You could be forgiven though, for thinking otherwise. A battery of complaints have been levelled at [...]
Eyepet: Through The Looking Glass
Augmented Reality. It’s a term that’s being bandied about all over the shop right now. I first came across it when *cough*Gizmondo*/cough* was busy conning a few poor saps into forking over some cash a few years back. GamesTm and Edge ran a couple of articles about the potential of integrating a forward facing camera’s [...]
Borderlands: Four Gun as One!
I remember many years ago, I was obsessed (or in love) with an online Dreamcast game called Phantasy Star Online, so much so that I started up a gaming community around it, and the tag line for that community was “Four fight as One”. Whenever I play Borderlands now, I am always reminded of that [...]
THIS IS Pa-ta! Pon.
Having not played anything worth while on my PSP for well over a year, I was inspired by Tom Chick’s adulation of Patapon 2 to pick up a copy. Luckily it was marked at £19.99 in GAME, however, they were having a sale on PSP games and it come in at a rather remarkable price [...]
AI War: Fleet Command
AI War: Fleet Command from Arcengames is a game that almost passed me by. A 2d space themed Real Time Strategy game that cloaked and sailed past my DRADIS, headed for the nearest warp gate to Alpha Centuri. Luckily, my finely tuned Stardock Impulse client, managed to pick up the faint impellor engine’s signature in [...]
Irongrip Warlord: Gunning for Glory
As I tried the demo of Irongrip Warlord, a sort of tower defence FPS, I was totally sucked in to the setting. Even when I was blissfully unaware of the range of the talents at my disposal; such as building defensive structures or laying trip wire mines and poison gas traps, such as buying better weapons [...]
Mass Effect Galaxy: Tilting the Batarian
Firstly I have to openly admit that I love Mass Effect and I love the Mass Effect Universe, so this “review” might not be as objective as it should. As the game loaded on my new iPod Touch, I could hear the familiar tones of the original Mass Effect game play in the background, very [...]
