What do indie game developers do with free time?
They develop other games for fun really they do.
Oh, and they film themselves doing it and timelapse it and put it on YouTube… just to show everyone else what we could be doing but aren’t, and also partially to show off, but I suspect mostly because they find it amusing to do so.

There’s an interesting trend appearing in some of the more intelligent iPhone games on the App store, in relation to playing turn based multiplayer games anyway.
